How To Make Your Own Delicious Almond Milk At Home

Making almond milk at home is simple and requires just a few ingredients. Here’s how you can do it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 4 cups filtered water (plus more for soaking)
  • 1-2 dates or 1 tbsp honey/maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Soak the Almonds
    • Place the almonds in a bowl and cover them with water.
    • Let them soak for 8-12 hours (overnight is best). This softens the almonds and makes blending easier.
    • Drain and rinse them well.
  2. Blend
    • Add the soaked almonds and 4 cups of fresh filtered water to a blender.
    • Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  3. Strain the Milk
    • Pour the blended mixture through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl.
    • Squeeze or press to extract as much liquid as possible.
  4. Flavor (Optional)
    • If you like, blend the strained milk with dates, vanilla, or a pinch of salt for extra taste.
  5. Store
    • Pour the almond milk into a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate.
    • It stays fresh for 3-5 days. Shake well before using, as natural separation occurs.

Tips:

  • Use the leftover almond pulp for baking, smoothies, or oatmeal.
  • For a creamier version, use less water (e.g., 3 cups instead of 4).
  • Experiment with flavors like cinnamon or cocoa for a unique twist.
