CANCER PREVENTION

Significant progress in cancer detection and treatment.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it remains the second leading cause of death in the United States. Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in the body grow and multiply out of control. A holistic approach to cancer prevention will reduce one’s chances of getting cancer or ensure that it is detected in a more timely fashion, as early detection is crucial to increasing the likelihood of treatment success.

CANCER 101

Though cancer has been around for thousands of years, cancer diagnoses have recently increased exponentially. It is believed that the this rise in the prevalence of cancer is directly linked to lifestyle and dietary choices, as well as exposure to environmental toxins. By choosing to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle, as well as receiving regular medical check-up’s and screenings, cancer likelihood is reduced and early detection increases. PROSTATE & BREAST CANCERS

Though risk for cancer increases with age, some cancers seem to be more prevalent, though not entirely confined to, either men or women. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in American men, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers. Breast cancer is estimated to affect 1 in 8 women during their lifetime. These cancers are both very serious, and yet when preventive measures are taken and regular screenings occur, they can most likely be prevented or caught early on. The earlier cancer is detected, the more likely treatment will be successful.
